PALO ALTO — Stanford University public safety officials are asking for the community’s help after a rape was reported on campus.
A victim reported she was in a parking lot near the Wilbur Hall dormitory around 5 p.m. Tuesday when a man she didn’t know grabbed her, according to a crime alert posted on the Stanford Department of Public Safety’s website and emailed to students. He then took her into a bathroom and raped her, according to the alert.
The victim told a mandatory reporter, who then informed the Department of Public Safety. The victim indicated she does not want to speak with police.
Public Safety is investigating the assault, and in the meantime, has increased patrols in the area.
DPS has asked anyone who has photos, videos or observations taken from the Wilbur area around the time of the attack to come forward. Anyone with information about the crime can contact Stanford DPS at 650-723-9633.
