Kat Von D, celebrity tattoo artist and star of TLC’s “LA Ink,” announced on Instagram last week that she no longer wants any occult items in the home she shares with her family.

Known for her iconic macabre style, she wrote, “I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don’t align with who I am and who I want to be.”

“Right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” she continued.

The post featured a photo with several tarot card decks, witchcraft, and Satan-related book titles.

Possibly in an attempt to remove any occult illustrations previously tattooed on her body, Von D began blacking out some of her tattoos, starting with her arm in late 2019. Since then, she has also blacked out her leg too, stating, “it’s extremely refreshing for me to see all the garbage, drunken tattoos I had scribbled all over my leg that I got before I became sober, be covered by sleekness and simplicity.”

The mother of one made headlines last year when she announced her family would be permanently moving out of California and closing her long-established and highly successful tattoo shop.

During Governor Gavin Newsom’s restrictive shutdown in California last year, Kat Von D attributed her reason for leaving the state to “terrible policies, tyrannical government overreach, ridiculous taxing, amongst so many more corruption.”

Von D shared with her Instagram followers that she was “so grateful to be able to flee California soon and set up roots in a freedom-loving state like Indiana in our beautiful old house we are remodeling.”
