ORINDA — On Friday night, a man fell out of an Infiniti sedan and died after being hit by the driver of another car on Highway 24 in Orinda, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP authorities said they responded to a “vehicle versus pedestrian” collision at 11:07 p.m. on eastbound Highway 24 west of the Camino Pablo off-ramp. All eastbound lanes of the highway were temporarily blocked off and reopened again Saturday morning.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed the right front passenger in the car partially extended himself outside the car, fell from the car and landed on the roadway, where he was struck by a passing vehicle, according to a CHP – Contra Costa Facebook post on Saturday morning.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The incident and the identification of the driver who struck the man are under investigation, CHP Officer Adam Lane said.
