Mike Brown is pulling some familiar faces from Golden State to join him in Sacramento.
Leandro Barbosa, a Warriors’ development coach and part of the 2015 championship team, will sign on to be one of Brown’s assistant coaches with the Kings, according to reports.
Barbosa played 15 seasons in the NBA, including two with the Warriors from the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, and three seasons internationally. The Warriors hired him as a player mentor and development coach after his retirement from professional basketball in 2020.
Barbosa is one of a few new additions to Brown’s bench, including former Warriors’ player development coach Luke Loucks.
After serving as Steve Kerr’s assistant coach from 2016 to 2020, Brown accepted the Kings’ head coaching job on May 8, the same day that Brown was tapped to fill in for Covid-positive Kerr during the Western Conference semifinals.
News broke of Barbosa’s new gig the same day he hit a game-winning layup for the Ball Hogs in the Big 3 League.
