SAN JOSE – A pedestrian was taken to a hospital with a life-threatening injury after being hit by a driver Tuesday in San Jose, police said.
The collision was reported just after 5 p.m. near Leeward Drive and Arden Way, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The collision followed two others earlier in the day that resulted in fatalities. A woman was killed in a hit-and-run around 4:45 a.m. near South Jackson and Kammerer avenues. Seven hours later, a man died when he crashed his car into a tree near Santa Teresa Boulevard and San Ignacio Avenue.
Those deaths marked the 35th and 36th traffic fatalities of the year on San Jose roadways.
