A registered nurse resigned after she claimed on social media that she would deny Viagra to white conservatives.
The tweet from the nurse was highlighted by the popular “Libs of TikTok” account on Sunday.
“I prescribe meds.. I can also choose not to prescribe them,” read the tweet published on Wednesday. “So… from now on.. if you are a white male who votes conservative, your penis needs to ask God for the power to rise. No more Viagra.”
When she was challenged over the questionable tweet, she doubled down.
“Bring it. I am allowed to prescribe based on need,” she added in a second tweet. “If you think God can provide, then why would I not allow for that? Conservative men rely on God to provide… I think that is a wonderful idea. Let us pray…”
Online sleuths were able to trace her back to a health center in Mattoon, East Central Illinois.
On Monday the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center confirmed that the nurse had resigned.
“A Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), who posted a discriminatory message on social media over the weekend, has resigned,” said the health center in a statement on Twitter.
The statement quoted an apology from the nurse.
“I am deeply sorry for my posts on social media. I allowed my personal feelings to spill out,” she said.
“Those hateful words are not aligned with how I have provided care to my patients,” she added. “Sarah Bush Lincoln is a wonderful organization and my actions have tarnished its reputation. I have resigned and know my patients will be well care for.”
The Libs of TikTok account has garnered more than 1.3 million followers and faced censorship from various social media platforms for merely reposting problematic videos and posts from those on the left.
