in Warriors’ parade
Kudos to Shayna Rubin for her article on riding on a parade bus with Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson in Monday’s East Bay Times (“Riding on a parade bus with Warriors’ Green and Toscano-Anderson was sensory overload,” Page C1, June 21).
I was at the parade and did, indeed, wonder what life was like on those buses. Shayna gave us a glimpse of the ride and all the folks on board. She mentioned Green getting on and off numerous times and Juan Toscano-Anderson finally following suit. We were down Market Street between 6th and 7th and wondered why it took so long for the buses to reach us. Now we know.
Hurray for the Warriors’ victory and to all their loyal fans, and to Shayna for sticking with the bus.

Development continues
as our drought worsens
Drought.gov provides some shocking information about California’s drought. The site reports that 37.2 million people in California are affected by drought, 58 California counties have received disaster designations and 2022 was the driest year in the past 128 years.
January, February and March of 2022 had the least rain and snow on record for any of these months in California.
Californians are being asked to reduce water consumption, especially for home landscaping. The grass is not green here in California.
Why do we still see cities approving applications to build more housing? Where will the water come from for all those homes? One wonders if developers are making under-the-table payments to elected government officials to encourage the approval of more developments. Sure seems like something is amiss with so many developments and so little water.

deftly handle a call
Recently, our neighborhood has had to deal with someone having a mental health crisis; acting out, throwing things in the street, swinging a bat, etc.
Police were called numerous times. Every time they were called, the Walnut Creek Police Department managed to calm the situation, and they finally removed the person causing the trouble.
Often we hear stories of people who are having “episodes” being shot or seriously injured. I want to commend the WCPD for its professionalism. With a long, hot summer ahead, we will no doubt need more of it everywhere.

Trump and cohorts
must face prosecution
The definition of “bully” is “a person who habitually seeks to harm or intimidate those whom they perceive as vulnerable.” This is the Donald Trump legacy, to intimidate anyone or anything that interferes with his ability to “win” or make money.
This is why we had an attack on our government. This is why we now know that the Republican agenda for ruling the country is based on lies and corruption. The cast of thieves: Trump, John Eastman, Rudy Giuliani, Mitch McConnell, Mark Meadows, Kevin McCarthy. Yes, McConnell, because he prevented Trump from being impeached, which allowed all this to occur.
And if the U.S. Department of Justice doesn’t prosecute these criminals, then democracy is hanging by a thread. The Trump “team” has hurt so many innocent people; that in itself needs to be resolved legally. And throw away the keys.

Will temper tantrum
bring Trump conviction?
Donald J. Trump, our last president, is throwing another temper tantrum. He was defeated in the last election, but in his mind, he should still be in the White House.
On Jan. 6, 2020, he encouraged a mob to attack and stop Vice President Mike Pence from certifying the election and declare Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States.
Lives were lost, property damaged and democracy was given a black eye.
Trump must be convicted and sentenced and sent to prison for treason because what he did and is still doing is wrong.
He must be held accountable, along with those who let him get that far and did nothing to stop him.

FINA’s ruling will keep
women’s events fair
Kudos to FINA for its recent ruling that restricts transgendered individuals from participating in swimming competitions. It is nice to know that there are still some adults in positions of authority.
Anyone who claims that having a male’s physiology does not create a competitive advantage in sports is simply lying.
