One of the East Bay’s most revered pizza restaurants is coming to Lafayette.

According to the website for La Fiesta Square, Sliver Pizzeria, the vegetarian slice shop founded by alums of Berkeley’s Cheese Board Collective Pizzeria, is opening a new location in the former Mangia at 975 Moraga Road. An email sent to Sliver Pizzeria was not immediately returned, but the official La Fiesta Square website says the restaurant is “coming soon.”

Sliver specializes in sourdough crust whole and half pies in addition to daily slices with toppings and flavor combinations such as corn with chile pasilla, yellow onions, mozzarella, feta cheese, cilantro, garlic olive oil and Mexican key limes. Also look for salads, chocolate chip and brownie pies and vegan pizzas.

Guillermo Willy Perez, Artemio Maldonado and Dwight Ferron opened the first Sliver in downtown Berkeley in 2013 with a rotating menu of daily slices and a socially-conscious, anti-Human Trafficking mission. The Center Street location in downtown Berkeley closed in 2018. Today, there are Sliver pizzerias on Telegraph Avenue and Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley as well as on Broadway in Oakland.

In February, Sliver opened its first Contra Costa County pizza parlor in Danville, at 100 Railroad Road, but the location is not included on the Sliver website.
