SAN JOSE — Firefighters on Thursday afternoon battled a pair of fires in San Jose, authorities said.
The first fire was reported at 1:08 p.m. in the 900 block of Whitehorne Drive. The fire was contained to a carport, but it impacted a power pole, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Power was knocked out to several nearby homes and two businesses.
Around 2:30 p.m., a second fire was reported in the 1200 block of Curtner Avenue. The fire was under control as of 5 p.m., the fire department said. One resident was displaced.
Westbound lanes of Curtner Avenue between Cherry and Lincoln avenues were closed to traffic because of the fire. The roadway was expected to reopen by 5:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported in either fire. The cause of each fire is under investigation.
