CROCKETT — An online fundraiser in memory of a 7-year-old boy who died last week in what authorities were calling a murder-suicide went past $30,000 on Wednesday afternoon.
The GoFundMe page for Clark Peterson, of Crockett, went up June 18, a day after he and 39-year-old Matthew Peterson were found dead inside a residence on the 1200 block of Pomona Street. The fundraiser total had reached $30,007 by 1 p.m., with 355 total donations made.
The fundraiser is seeking to help with the funeral costs for Clark’s family. The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office identified him Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies were sent to the residence about 8:30 p.m. on June 17 after receiving reports that there were two people dead inside, according to a statement from sheriff’s office spokesman Jimmy Lee.
They both appeared to have been there for several hours, Lee said.
The sheriff’s office has remained tight-lipped on what may have spurred the shooting or what the motive for it might be.
