MOUNTAIN VIEW – A 21-year-old Oakland man has been arrested on suspicion of hitting a security guard with a sport utility vehicle earlier this year in downtown Mountain View.
The alleged assault was reported around 1 a.m. on March 13 on the 200 block of Bryant Street, according to the Mountain View Police Department. Officers arrived to find the guard bleeding from his arm and limping.
The guard told police he had ordered the man to leave the nearby Monte Carlo Restaurant & Bar because of his erratic behavior. After exiting the establishment, the man threw a glass bottle at the guard, got into an SUV and reversed into the guard, police said.
The man also tried to hit other people while driving down Bryant Street, according to police.
Detectives eventually identified the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit and run, police said. Following a pursuit Friday, Oakland police officers arrested the man and booked him into Alameda County jail.
