HAYWARD — A person was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a male victim found near a school campus Monday, authorities said.
In a statement, police said officers responded around 8:30 a.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 27000 block of Whitman Street, close to Tennyson High School.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not available from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau Monday night.
Police said a person was arrested in connection to the shooting, but declined to identify the person or a specific charge.
