Put those greasy fries and sad well drinks aside. There’s a new kind of sports bar in town.
4bells Public House, a new sports bar and fast-casual pub, opened today at 984 University Ave. in Berkeley, just in time for Warriors fans to catch the first game in the NBA finals championship in style. The name references the number of quarters in basketball and bells in popular sports around the world. 4bells is open from 3 to 9 p.m. daily with a happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.
Two Berkeley stars are behind the new venture. Chef Sergio Emilio Monleón of tapas bar La Marcha and Jennifer Seidman, owner of whiskey-centric Acme Bar & Company, are the duo behind 4bells Public House, which offers elevated bar food and hand-crafted cocktails in a fun, neighborhood pub space with an arcade game room home to vintage pinball machines.
On the menu, look for tasty bites, like Gochujang-Honey Buffalo Wings and Chipotle-Miso Glazed Cauliflower plus a Duck Sausage Chihuahua Dog, Oxtail Tamales and Oaxacan-Mole Fried Chicken & Waffles. Did we mention the Harissa-Spiced Onion Rings?
The bar offer 12 local draft beers, mostly sourced within 25 miles, and a variety of cocktails made with fresh juices and house-made syrups. Look for a selection of 20 to 25 California and global wines, sold mostly by-the-glass. Details: https://4bellsberkeley.com
