SAN LEANDRO — A man was charged Thursday in the fatal shooting of a friend earlier this week, a crime caused by a dispute over a trailer, according to authorities and court records.

Ciprian Tudor, 37, of San Leandro, is charged with murder in the killing of Adam Denu, 44. Tudor was also charged with possession of an assault weapon.

The shooting happened about 2:51 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Calgary Street and Lewelling Boulevard.

Police said the two men were described by others as friends and apparently argued over a trailer before Tudor shot Denu in the head with a handgun. Denu died later at a hospital.

At least one witness at the scene identified Tudor as the suspect, the documents say, and the shooting was captured on video surveillance. Multiple 9mm shell casings were found at the scene, police said.

Tudor fled the scene but police were able to track him via his cell phone to a gas station in the area of Hopyard Road and Owens Drive in Pleasanton. He was arrested about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, the documents say.

Multiple rifles, including some AR-15s and AK-47s, were found in his vehicle but none were believed to be the murder weapon, the documents say.

According to the records, after Tudor’s arrest police were able to subsequently develop information that led them to the gun used in the killing, which Tudor had disposed of near the Bay Bridge.

Tudor is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail.
