Those who know me best know that I have a bit of a thing for small knives. They fit anywhere and no one ever looks at them sideways when I pull them out in public. Not to mention, it really doesn’t matter the situation, I always have it with me. For this reason, ZT (Zero Tolerance) Knives created the 0022 in 2019. And now, Zero Tolerance has upgraded the 0022 to the Factory Special Series 0022CU in copper.
The Zero Tolerance 0022CU
The smallest knife to date from the ZT Knives stable, the 0022CU boasts a 1.8-inch blade length. As a result, it is legal in even the most restrictive jurisdictions. However, if you live in a restrictive state, you should still check your local knife-carry laws.
The clip point blade features a sabre grind with a top swedge running almost all the way back to the handle. Likewise, light jimping adorns the spine for additional retention during use. Constructed of CPM 20CV, the blade will hold an excellent edge while remaining corrosion resistant.
Overall, the 0022CU does not deviate much from the original 0022, just in its handle material. Where the original utilized a carbon fiber front handle, the 0022CU utilizes a copper front handle. As a result, is a very classy presentation that will only look better as it begins to patina.
But there is a bit of a tradeoff. Where the original is only 1.7 ounces, the 0022CU is now 2.8 ounces. Although an additional ounce is added to it, its diminutive size still keeps it under 3 ounces. So, it is still well within a comfortable carry weight for an EDC knife.
The back handle is still constructed of titanium, which helps keep the knife rugged for hard use. Additionally, the deep finger contours help maintain a solid purchase on the two-fingered knife while cutting. The blade rides into the open position via a KVT ball-bearing pivot, with a titanium trim ring. Once open it is held firmly in lockup via a frame lock.
A reversible pocket clip allows the 0022CU to be carried either right- or left-hand, tip-up only configuration. The pocket clip rides a little low, so the knife protrudes from the pocket for easy retrieval.
