OAKLAND — A 26-year-old woman shot Tuesday afternoon in East Oakland died early Friday from her wounds, authorities said.
Her name was not immediately released. Police said she is an Oakland resident who was pronounced dead at a hospital at 1:13 a.m. Friday.
Two men who were also wounded in the shooting are recovering.
The shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday outside a convenience store at the intersection of the 3200 block of 35th Avenue and Mangels Avenue.
Police said there was an exchange of gunfire between at least two people that struck the woman as well as a 48-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, who are also Oakland residents.
Police have not yet said what prompted the shooting. No arrests have been announced.
The woman’s death is the 45th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. The California Highway Patrol has also investigated four killings on Oakland freeways. Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 57 homicides in the city
