OAKLAND — BART service resumes after a person’s entry into a BART station trackway led to a station closure, with trains turned back from another station out of caution during Monday evening’s commute, authorities said.
Shortly after 6:20 p.m., BART officials learned of a report of the person seen entering the trackway at the Lake Merritt station, with BART police officers responding to investigate. Officials then closed the Lake Merritt station as a precaution.
Officials also turned back trains from Berryessa/North San Jose to Richmond and Daly City at Oakland’s Fruitvale station, and diverted Daly City-to-Dublin/Pleasanton trains to Oakland’s MacArthur station.
Around 7:20 p.m., after BART announced an AC Transit bus bridge set up between the system’s West Oakland, 12th Street, Lake Merritt and Fruitvale stations, with bus No. 6125 for northbound riders, service was halted for riders between West Oakland and Lake Merritt, as well as between 12th Street/City Center and Lake Merritt stations.
Just before 8:15 p.m., the Lake Merritt station reopened, with service disruptions of up to 20 minutes expected to slowly ease.
Check back for updates.
