Equipment issues in downtown Oakland snarled BART service in almost every direction early Sunday morning, while also entirely halting Red Line service, the transit agency reported.

Delays of up to 30 minutes are being reported in Oakland “due to train control issues,” according to James Allison, a BART spokesman.

The cause of the equipment issues was not immediately clear, with the agency reporting delays “in the Antioch, Berryessa, Richmond and San Francisco directions due to an equipment problem on the track,” according to a BART Twitter account.

Allison said there is no estimate for when service will be fully restored.
