Authorities have identified one of two people killed in crashes on Highway 4 last weekend.

Tyson Knerr, 33, of San Pablo, died in a motorcycle wreck that happened about 9:50 p.m. Saturday. He was going eastbound on the highway just west of the Railroad Avenue exit in Pittsburg. He died at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol said Knerr lost control of a Yamaha R-6 and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Knerr’s fatal wreck was the first of two that happened about 26 hours apart. A 21-year-old man who was a front-seat passenger in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser died when that car lost control while going east near Highway 160 in Oakley at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities early Friday still were not releasing his identity, saying his closest relatives still have not been notified.

The CHP said they arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI but a Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office spokesman said Friday that their office has not filed charges against the woman.

The driver was one of four people injured in the crash. Her injuries were life-threatening. Authorities, citing laws against the public release of a person’s medical information, have not provided an update on her condition.

Two other backseat passengers, both under 18, suffered major injuries in the crash, according to the CHP. A third backseat passenger who was an adult suffered serious injuries, the CHP said.
