Open Access to authors
Authors Dr. Rupa Marya and Raj Patel will discuss their new book “Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice” May 12 at 7 p.m. as part of the Open Access series at Montalvo Arts Center. The book connects the dots between the human body, the environment, and the injustices of our political and economic systems.
The conversation will be followed by a Q&A and book signing hosted by Books, Inc. Copies of the book can also be ordered in advance at https://us.macmillan.com.
Open Access is presented by Montalvo’s Lucas Artists Residency Program and offer a behind-the-scenes view into how artists generate ideas, showcase works in progress and provide a forum for critical conversations. Tickets are $10 and up at https://my.montalvoarts.org; events are free for Montalvo donors.
Events for older adults
Bay Area Older Adults is hosting a museum tour and an entomology exploration this month.
A guided tour of the Los Altos History Museum is set for May 6, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and will feature the photography and video exhibit “Every Wrinkle Tells a Story.” Register at https://www.bayareaolderadults.org/bao-culture.
On a stroll at Hellyer County Park on May 11, 9 a.m.-noon, participants will observe and learn about the insects that live around and in Cottonwood Lake and Coyote Creek such as damselflies, moths, backswimmers, scuds, beetles, and the variety of insects that shaped gall wasps.
