Originally designed to fill a military contract, the SAR9 includes many features shooters love. However, SAR USA addresses the concealed carry crowd by introducing the SAR9 Compact X. With the same great features of the SAR9 but in a smaller package, the Compact X promises to be a solid EDC CCW.
The SAR USA SAR9 Compact X
Like the SAR9, the Compact X features a lightweight polymer frame with a single slot Picatinny rail. The grip includes an interchangeable backstrap with three included backstraps to dial in the fit. Likewise, the 20-degree grip angle provides a natural point of aim with superior control and fast second-shot recovery.
Riding atop the frame is the serrated forged steel slide with Cerakote platinum finish. The rear cocking serrations are fairly standard, but the front serrations include slide lightening holes, giving it a nice aesthetic. Housed within the slide is a 4-inch hammer-forged barrel with a recessed crown. Additionally, the low barrel axis-to-grip ratio reduces muzzle climb, promoting increased accuracy.
Featuring striker-fired action, the Compact X utilizes an ambidextrous safety trigger. The trigger has a tab safety in the center to prevent inertial discharges if the gun is dropped onto the rear of the slide. Similarly, there’s a bright red insert that enables shooters to see at a glance whether the gun is cocked or not.
The Compact X comes with a package of goodies to get you started. Included in the package are a paddle holster, double mag pouch, magazine loader, and accessory flashlight. Additionally, chambered in 9mm, the Compact X comes with two 15-round magazines. However, if you live in a restrictive state, you can get the 10-round magazines instead.

The SAR9 Compact X is fairly similar in form, function, and price to the Springfield Hellcat Pro (but slightly bigger). However, although the Compact X does have pre-drilled holes for an optic using the Micro Shield footprint, the Hellcat Pro has a dedicated optic cut.
As a result, with the right optic, the Hellcat Pro can cowitness, whereas the Compact X would always require suppressor level sights. But the Hellcat Pro experiences the same issue with optics that do not fit within the slide cut.
