HALF MOON BAY – A 25-year-old Half Moon Bay man has been arrested on suspicion of raping one underage girl and having sexual intercourse with another, authorities said.
Detectives with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation in October 2021 after receiving a report of a sexual assault of a minor, Sgt. Donnie Burnett said in a news release Wednesday. Cesar GomezPerez was identified as a suspect.
As the investigation continued, detectives identified an additional juvenile victim who had sexual intercourse with the suspect in a separate incident, according to Burnett.
Detectives arrested GomezPerez on Tuesday. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on charges of raping a minor, meeting with a minor for lewd purposes and having sexual intercourse with a minor, according to jail records.
Jail records also showed GomezPerez was still in custody Wednesday. His bail was listed at $250,000.
The sheriff’s office has not identified any additional victims, but Burnett said there may be others.
“Due to GomezPerez facing multiple allegations of sexual assault in San Mateo County, there is concern for the potential other victim who may not yet have come forward,” he said.
