ALAMEDA — An unidentified man’s body was found in a parking lot last week, and authorities said Wednesday that someone tried to conceal it from view.
In a statement posted to social media, police said officers responded around 1:45 p.m. April 21 to a report of an unresponsive male found in the lot near Blanding Avenue and Broadway.
When officers arrived, they met firefighters who pronounced the man dead at the scene and learned that a shopper at a nearby business had found the body. “It appears attempts were made to conceal the man,” police said in part.
The man’s identity was not available Wednesday afternoon, pending an investigation by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau.
Police said investigators were pursuing credible leads into the circumstances that led to the man’s death, but declined to share details.
