PITTSBURG — A man was hospitalized Sunday after an injury shooting that police suspect was linked to a road-rage incident, authorities said.
In a statement Monday, police said officers responded shortly after 11:15 p.m. Sunday to Frontage Road and Crestview Drive for a report of possible shots fired, but found no shooting signs.
About twenty minutes later, police received a call about a man found shot just over a mile and a half away at Castlewood Drive and Kirker Pass Road. When officers arrived, they found the man sitting in a vehicle and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later listed in critical but stable condition. There were no other reported injuries, police said.
According to preliminary investigation by officers using the city’s surveillance system, the shooting happened near Thomas Way and Crestview Drive and was likely related to a road-rage incident that took place a half-hour before police found the victim. Police added that officers searching the area later found several firearm casings, as well as damage at a nearby home.
