EAST PALO ALTO – A driver hit and killed a pedestrian Monday morning in East Palo Alto, police said.
The crash was reported at 5:09 a.m. on East Bayshore Road at Oakwood Drive, East Palo Alto police Cmdr. David Carson said in a news release. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The pedestrian was apparently pushing a shopping cart in the southbound lane of East Bayshore Road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The pedestrian was also wearing all-dark clothing.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office will release the pedestrian’s identity once it has been confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
