OAKLAND — A teenage boy has been charged with murder in the death a 15-year-old Antioch girl who was shot in Oakland earlier this month, authorities confirmed to this news organization Friday.

Police arrested the 15-year-old suspect in Sacramento on Tuesday, authorities said. The U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the arrest, police said.

Antioch resident Camyla Brown was shot while visiting an East Oakland home in the 6900 block of 68th Avenue on April 9. She died the following morning at an Oakland hospital.

Authorities said Brown and the suspect were acquaintances. A motive for the shooting has not been released by police.

Oakland police have investigated 37 homicides this year, 10 fewer than at this time a year ago. The California Highway Patrol also has investigated two homicides on Oakland freeways.
