In the Polynesian culture, the concept of Mana is defined as the spiritual life’s forces of energy and healing power. It is believed that these forces permeate the universe. Not limited to individuals, people, governments, and places, according to Polynesian culture anyone can have Mana. The MANA from SK Customs features etching that details this Polynesian ethos, exemplifying the belief that even inanimate objects may possess MANA.
SK Customs Releases The MANA 1911
The MANA uses a full-size Colt Classic 1911 Series 70 as its canvas, like custom SK pistols before it. Both the frame and slide are constructed of high polish stainless steel, setting off the intricate engraving. Correspondingly, the slide features intricate motifs inspired by the Polynesian ethos, etched and plated in 24 karat gold.
The right side of the slide shows various symbolism in the Polynesian culture encompassing a stingray and turtle. Both the stingray and turtle have great significance, symbolizing aspects of Mana. Also, just behind the cocking serrations is a panel displaying the serial number, between 001 and 200, of each pistol.
The left side of the slide displays similar symbolism with a gecko crawling along toward tiki semi-gods. Similarly, the top features a band of Koru, which symbolizes new beginnings, growth, and harmony. Additionally, a diamond-studded factory front-staked sight compliments the end of the slide. Chambered in .38 Super, a high polished silver national matched barrel rounds out the high-quality functionality of the MANA.
Debuting on the MANA are new super bright white ivory polymer grips. Engraved on each grip panel are intricate Polynesian designs surrounding an owl. As with many cultures, the owl is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. In addition, 24-karat gold plated hardware further accentuates the MANA. This includes the safety, slide lock, and hammer.
Each MANA ships with a custom knife from French manufacturer Deejo®. Constructed of high polish stainless steel, the knife features Polynesian motifs, matching the MANA. Likewise, a composite turtle shell handle further highlights the Polynesian culture. The exposed liner lock features the words, “SK Customs – The MANA”.
