With its simple, straightforward, micro-compact platform, the CPX line of pistols is a popular option for concealed carry. The SCCY Firearms CPX GEN3 Series
The GEN3 line is still based on a 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum alloy receiver, machined from bar stock. Likewise, the receiver is mounted in a molded Zytel polymer grip frame, in your choice of color. As a result, the CPX line stays budget-friendly, while remaining a quality shooting platform.
Where the GEN3 line sees its biggest changes are in the frame. The GEN3 removes the finger grooves and replaces them with a grooved front strap. Similarly, the texturing on the backstrap is updated to match the front strap. In addition, the backstrap was brought slightly forward, providing a better purchase on the pistol. Especially for smaller hands.
Just forward of the trigger guard, the previously upswept dust cover was replaced with a two-slot Picatinny rail. As a result, the GEN3 can now accommodate small rail-mounted lights, like the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub.
Additionally, the CPX-1 GEN3 now has a smaller external ambidextrous safety. As a result, you can still achieve safe handling when not shooting but it is now less obtrusive. However, like the original, the CPX-2 GEN3 does not feature an external safety, so there is no change there.
Finally, like the original, the slide on the GEN3 is still constructed of heat-treated stainless steel. Likewise, it is still available in a natural stainless or black nitride finish, with deep, rear cocking serrations. However, the original 3 dot sight system has been replaced by G-43 style sights and the slide now features the Roebuck Quad-Lock system.
Both the CPX-1 GEN3 and CPX-2 GEN3 are still available in red dot-ready configuration at an additional cost.
