Cooking on a budget with a bare cupboard isn’t easy, but some of Silicon Valley’s finest chefs are taking on the challenge.

West Valley Community Services is again hosting its gala fundraiser, Chefs of Compassion: Cooking for a Cause, a unique dining event that challenges well-known chefs in the region to prepare a three-course dinner with ingredients found in the Cupertino-based nonprofit’s food pantry.

The April 1 event will be a virtual one, with the gourmet meal and wine delivered to your home that day. Online festivities, including stories from WVCS clients, chef presentations and door prizes, will begin at 6 p.m.

This year’s chefs are chef Sachin Chopra of All Spice in San Mateo, chef Nikos Moulinos of Taverna in Palo Alto and chef Isaac Karachepone of Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto. All three have years of top-tier culinary experience on their résumés.

Early ticket purchases are advised, as the event is expected to sell out. All proceeds benefit West Valley’s programs that combat hunger and homelessness. For tickets, $175 each, go to www.chefsofcompassion.org.
