A woman in her early twenties died early Sunday morning after her car crashed into a tree in Antioch.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. near Hillcrest Avenue and Laurel Road, about half a mile east of Black Diamond Middle School. Officers found the female driver unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead after firefighters arrived on the scene. The female was the only person in the vehicle, according to police.
Roadways in the area remain open.
The woman was not identified pending notification of next of kin.
The site of the incident is not far from where two individuals were arrested at the beginning of March after fleeing from police at a gas station on Lone Tree Way and later crashing their car on Hillcrest Avenue.
