Scouting volunteer recognized

Campbell resident Todd Hauschildt was one of seven local Scouting volunteers honored recently with a Silver Beaver Award, the highest recognition bestowed to a volunteer for their work in Scouting at the local level. Chosen by a panel of their peers, award winners from Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties were recognized at a Feb. 26 dinner.

After achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth, Hauschildt reconnected with Scouts in 1996, serving as Cubmaster for his sons’ Cub Scout pack. He currently serves as an assistant scoutmaster and charter representative. He has worked with more than 750 scouts on to help them achieve their Eagle Scout rank and has counseled more than 400 scouts on Personal Management and other merit badges.

Hauschildt attends Prince of Peace Lutheran in Saratoga, where he has served various roles. He also volunteers at the rotating safe car park, formed to support the housing challenged in the community.
