Far: lone Sails was first released in 2018 and it gained quite a fan base – Game Informer gave it an 8.25 in our review – thanks to its unique premise, meditative gameplay, and interesting world design. Developer Okomotive is back with a sequel to it with this year’s Far: Changing Tides and it promises to bring all of the environmental puzzles with it.
This time around, your goal is to move a ship…somewhere. In order to do that, though, you’ll need to find new ways to keep the ship powered, discover how to break through an obstacle, and more. In this new installment of New Gameplay Today, your hosts, Game Informer editors Wesley LeBlanc and Ben Reeves, talk about the game’s opening 15 minutes and some of the first puzzles in it.
How does it feel compared to Lone Sails? What’s the narrative like thus far? Does Changing Tides bring all of the Limbo and Inside-esque worldbuilding with it that Lone Sails did back in 2018? Wesley and Ben talk through these questions and more in today’s New Gameplay Today. Thanks for watching, and be sure to let us know what you think of this upcoming puzzle game from Okomotive, which hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on March 1.
