A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck at 8:49 p.m. Saturday about half way between Gilroy and San Juan Bautista in San Benito County just east of U.S. Highway 101.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake was centered at a depth of 4.9 kilometers (3 miles). No injuries have been reported.
