A traffic accident left one person dead on I-880 northbound in West Oakland on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 12:34 a.m. near the ramp at Seventh Street. A caller reported a body laying in the right lane. There was also a report of an overturned vehicle nearby, according to Bay City News.
A local Twitter posted around 1 a.m.: “Check on ya people. Motorcycle down and purple BMW flipped 880 North. Right before Seventh street.”
Authorities closed all lanes and diverted traffic, and reopened the highway several hours later. The victim has not been identified.
