OAKLEY — Friends and family of a 24-year-old missing Oakley woman, Alexis Gabe, continue their efforts to locate her with more flier distributions this weekend and physical searches the following weekend.

Morgan Strenfel, girlfriend of Gabe’s brother Gwyn, and a family spokeswoman, announced details of the efforts Thursday night on the Help Bring Alexis Gabe Home Facebook page during a livestream update.

“Our efforts currently and throughout the next week will be on flier distribution and active searches,” she told listeners. “So give us some time and patience for the next few days because we are ironing out all of the details for the physical searches.”

Gabe disappeared three weeks earlier on Jan. 26 after reportedly visiting her ex-boyfriend’s home in Antioch. Her car, a light blue Inifiniti, was found the next day with the keys in the ignition on Trenton Street in Oakley, but her purse and phone were missing, police said.

Strenfel, who has been giving regular updates, did not speak of the investigation, but announced a flier distribution from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park near Oakley City Hall on Main Street.

“What we’re asking people to do is come out and pick up some fliers, distribute them to all the local businesses and anywhere in your neighborhoods, wherever you live,” she said.

Strenfel said they also want volunteers to sign up to distribute and post fliers at nearby BART stations, including Antioch, Pittsburg and Concord.

“We want to get fliers out anywhere and everywhere,” she said, noting there are other flier pickup locations for those who can’t make it Saturday. Details will be posted on the Facebook page.

Also planned this weekend is a fundraiser with Mexican food, music and raffles from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday organized by family friend Miguel Hernandez on Del Antico Avenue in Oakley.

In the following week, Feb. 25, 26 and 27, volunteer searches will be conducted in the area, Strenfel said.

The spokeswoman said the family has been in nearly daily contact with the KlaasKids Foundation — named after 12-year-old kidnap and murder victim Polly Klaas —  which will assist them with official searches. Potential volunteers can check back on the Help Bring Gabe Back Facebook page for more details, which should be available by midweek, she said.

“Thanks for hanging in with us,” Strenfel added.

Police have given few updates on the case since conducting a search warrant at the ex-boyfriend’s home in Antioch on Feb. 1 when they collected bags of evidence. He has not been named a person of interest.

On Wednesday, police issued a statement saying that the investigation into Gabe’s disappearance of Alexis Gabe “has remained at the forefront of the Oakley Police Department’s daily operations.” Police added: “We remain committed to the tenets of completing a thorough investigation and making sure the integrity of our investigation outweighs public curiosity.”
