OAKLAND — Two people told police they were shot during separate incidents about six hours apart Thursday and Friday.

A 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were wounded in the shootings, police said. Both were in stable condition at a hospital.

The second of the two shootings injured the man. That gunfire happened about 12:50 a.m.

According to police, the man had just exited Interstate 880 at 98th Avenue and was going northbound off the exit. He told police that as he was driving, somebody shot him.

The man was hit more than once and drove to a gas station, where he called 911, police said. Before officers arrived, he drove himself to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

Officers found him there.

The first shooting involved the woman, who told police she was shot while in a car about 6:37 p.m. According to police, the woman told them that she’d been in a minor collision with another vehicle on Hunter Avenue in East Oakland.

The woman told police that she then drove to the 9800 block of Maddux Drive, less than a half-mile away, and that the other person in the collision followed her there and fired.

The shots hit the woman in the elbow, and she got her own ride to a hospital, police said.

Police did not identify any suspects in either shooting, nor do they have a motive.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest of a suspect. Those with information can contact police at 510-238-3426 and Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
