Let’s get one thing perfectly clear—sex work is work! Not only is it work, but it’s arguably the oldest professions in human history. There are many different kinds of sex work, both legal and illegal, with one of the most popular being stripping. Stripping, also known as exotic dancing, revolves around the art of the striptease. Stripping is a very varied profession, as there are many different types of work environments and performance styles. For example, many strippers work in clubs and participate in stage performances. These performances can include stripteases, dances and performances on a pole.
Many strippers will also perform lap dances for high tipping customers. Other places strippers can be found include private parties or events and bachelor and bachelorette parties. It’s also important to recognize that stripping can be done by performers of all genders, sizes, races, sexual orientations, etc.
Over the years, many films have premiered which focus on strippers. Some of the most prominent include 2019’s “Hustlers,” which starred Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu and 1995’s “Showgirls” starring Elizabeth Berkley. And of course, we cannot forget 2012’s “Magic Mike,” starring Channing Tatum.
