A two-vehicle collision left one person dead Saturday evening in northeast San Jose.

The crash happened shortly before 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Berryessa Road and Gurney Court, according to the San Jose Police Department. The driver of one of the vehicles died, and a passenger in that vehicle suffered moderate injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. No other information about the crash has been released, including the name of the person killed.

Twelve people have died in traffic crashes so far this year – a pace that, should it continue, would shatter any previous traffic death totals in the city.

Last year, 60 people died in traffic fatalities across the city, matching the city’s 2015 and 2019 totals. That total did not include a person who died in January of injuries suffered during a crash in October, because police consider that death as part of this year’s tally. Source: www.mercurynews.com
