SAN JOSE – A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting two people in San Jose, police said.

The assaults were reported Jan. 7, San Jose police Sgt. Christian Camarillo said in a news release Monday.

Camarillo said one of the victims took a picture of the suspect and provided it to detectives, who in turn shared it with patrol officers. An officer recognized the suspect, and he was arrested the same day near South 4th and San Carlos streets.

The suspect, identified as Dionte Devol Foster, was booked into Santa Clara County jail on sexual assault charges, Camarillo said.

Camarillo said Foster was also arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in July 2021.

Foster is unhoused and is known to frequent the downtown San Jose area, Camarillo said.

Anyone with information related to the cases or others involving Foster can contact the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assault Investigations Unit at 408-277-4102 or leave a tip with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-7867 or at svcrimestoppers.org.
