KING CITY — Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in the double homicide of the 20-year-old man and 18-year-old woman fatally shot on Sunday afternoon.

According to the King City Police Department, a shooting was reported at 1:22 p.m. in the area of Sussex Way and Wellington Avenue in King City. When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, identified as Carlos Manuel Lopez Sanchez and Selena Gonzalez Godoy, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigation units from the King City Police Department and Greenfield Police Department initiated an investigation into the deaths of the two victims, which has included a canvas of the area by officers for victims, review of home surveillance videos, and a review of video footage from the King City citywide camera system.

Preliminary information collected has allowed police to identify 19-year-old King City resident Elizar Ayron Arellano and 20-year-old Salinas resident Raul Omar Lucas as suspects in the double homicide. Search and arrest warrants for Arellano and Lucas have since been issued.

On Wednesday, Lucas was taken into custody and booked into Monterey County Jail for two counts of murder, police said. Detectives have also arrested 28-year-old Salinas resident Rocio Villa Vasquez Martinez for aiding and abetting the murders.

Martinez was brought into custody during a search of suspects’ residences, where police located and seized a non-serialized assault weapon. Martinez was arrested for possession of an assault weapon, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and child endangerment. She was later identified as involved in the double homicide.

As of Thursday morning, Arellano, who is considered to be armed and dangerous, has not been located, according to police.

The King City Police Department said anyone who believes they have seen Arellano should call the department at (831) 755-5111 and provide the time and location they saw Arellano, as well as describe Arellano’s clothing and vehicle that may be related to him.

Police have also determined that two additional suspects were involved in the double homicide and are asking anyone with information pertaining to the investigation or anyone who knows of associates of Arellano or Lucas to contact Sgt. Joshue Partida at (831) 386-5988 or jpartida@kingcity.com.

The California Highway Patrol, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Greenfield Police Department, Soledad Police Department and Salinas Police Department have assisted with this incident and ongoing investigation.
