Texas police are searching for a 14-year-old suspect accused of committing a heinous triple murder that was caught on surveillance video.
The harrowing video shows a shirtless young male crouching to sneak up to the entrance of a convenience store before opening fire with a handgun on four teenage targets. He continues shooting into the store and then jumps into a white truck that then speeds away quickly.
Three of the four teenage victims died at the scene, while the fourth was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The three victims who died were aged 14, 16, and 17 years old while the wounded victim was 15 years old.
On Wednesday, police charged Abel Elias Acosta with the triple murder, but said that they had not yet located the teenager who they said was armed and dangerous.
Previously on Monday, 33-year-old Richard Acosta turned himself in to the police. Investigators believe that he was the driver of the getaway truck and the father of the shooting suspect.
“We now believe that one or more of the victims who were shot inside were involved in a previous disturbance with which, what believe to be the shooter who pulled the trigger,” said Garland Police spokesperson Lt. Pedro Barineau according to KTVT-TV.
Police described the teenage suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic boy with dark hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet and 5 inches tall, and about 125 lbs. They obtained and released to the media a photograph from social media of one whom they believe to be Acosta holding a gun.
Prosecutors will decide whether to charge the younger Acosta as a juvenile or as an adult.
Richard Acosta was charged with thecapital murder of three persons and held on a $1,000,000 bail.
