MILPITAS – A 33-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in Milpitas, police said.
Over the Christmas holiday weekend, the Milpitas Police Department investigated three robberies at convenience and liquor stores, the agency said in a news release Wednesday.
Officers on Monday obtained a license plate number, information from a hotel and security camera footage, which they then used to identify the suspect, police said. A $200,000 warrant was issued for his arrest on three counts of robbery, auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police said the suspect was on probation for assault likely to produce great bodily injury and was also wanted on felony warrants for fraud and violation of probation.
Less than six hours after he was identified, the suspect was arrested in San Jose. A search of his vehicle turned up “realistic” airsoft-style pistols, police said. Other evidence, which police did not specify, was reportedly found in the suspect’s hotel room.
Police said the suspect was booked into Santa Clara County jail on the various warrants.
