A heartwarming viral video circulated this week showing teacher Kathleen Fitzpatrick — aka Ms. Fitz — hitting a long-distance shot in order to win her class hot chocolate, and the reaction of her students is priceless.

The shot apparently took place at Holy Trinity School Georgetown in Washington, DC. According to the Instagram caption, “Ms. Fitz threw a Hail Mary and promised all the 3rd graders hot chocolate if she made the shot. Well, God was looking out for her…”

In the video, Fitzpatrick calmly steps up and launches a shot from across a playground, which swishes through goal, sending her students into a frenzy of excitement at the prospect of free hot chocolate.

According to the Huffington Post, the shot may not have been entirely luck. Fitzpatrick was apparently a former Division I basketball player for the Rutgers and St. Joseph’s women’s team. She reported led St. Joseph’s in made 3-pointers during 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

Her principal, Kevin McShane, told the Huffington Post that the previous day, she had hit the same shot after promising the students that she would cancel one of their math tests if she missed. McShane quipped, “As you can imagine, their reaction was a little different to that shot!”

The video had been watched over 100,000 times and had garnered over 13,000 likes as of the time of the writing of this story.

According to The Guardian, pictures posted on the school’s Facebook page prove that Ms. Fitz made good on her promise to provide all the third graders with hot chocolate.
