The Warriors still haven’t said when injured star Klay Thompson will be back on the court, but on Wednesday night the team announced that Thompson and center James Wiseman had been recalled from the team’s G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz.
Thompson, who hasn’t played in an NBA game since the 2019 Finals because of two leg injuries, and Wiseman, who is recovering from knee surgery, had been practicing with the Santa Cruz team as they recover from their ailments and while the NBA team embarked on a lengthy East Coast trip.

The Warriors announced a similar procedural move for the pair earlier this month after the pair worked out with the G-League team for a few days.
The announcement caused a stir on social media on Wednesday night because all signs point to Thompson’s lengthy absence from the court finally coming to an end in a matter of days.
After recovering from a torn left ACL suffered during the 2019 Finals, Thompson suffered an injury to his right Achilles in a pickup game before the start of last season. Thompson appears nearly ready to return to game action, and the Warriors brass has said his first game back coming at home is important. The Warriors play at Boston on Friday and Toronto on Saturday. Their next home game is Monday against the Kings, and then play host to Memphis on Thursday, Dec. 23.
Wiseman, who had surgery on a torn meniscus in April, is not anywhere as close to returning to game action. The second-year pro has yet to play in a pickup game.
Thompson’s absence meant he missed Splash Brother Stephen Curry becoming the NBA’s all-time 3-point scorer on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Curry had Thompson there in spirit, hanging Thompson’s No. 11 in his locker during the game.
Wednesday, Thompson went on Instagram to congratulate Curry, ending his heartfelt note with the message, “Let’s run these numbers up and keep pushing the game forward big bro. Winter is coming.”
