WALNUT CREEK — The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office announced charges Wednesday against a fourth suspect in connection with last month’s Broadway Plaza retail theft spree, authorities said.
In a statement, police said evidence led them to seek an arrest warrant for Jordan San Felipe, 21, who was taken into custody Tuesday and booked into Martinez county jail.
San Felipe was later charged with felony counts of burglary, organized retail theft, possession of stolen property and robbery, police said.
The Nov. 20 group theft at Broadway Plaza’s Nordstrom store led to calls for action that yielded arrests and charges for Dana Dawson, 30, of San Francisco, on gun charges, as well as Joshua Underwood, 32, of San Francisco and Rodney Robinson, 18, of Oakland.
Late last month, Walnut Creek police said they were contemplating hiring additional officers to handle any additional robberies targeting the city’s retail establishments, with city officials signing off on plans to spend nearly a quarter of the city’s $8 million-plus allotment of federal American Rescue Plan Act money — intended to help local governments fight COVID-19’s harmful impacts — to create a new downtown police beat to patrol high-end retailers and beef up surveillance technology.
