FREMONT — A person was found dead Monday outside the Tesla Motors factory, authorities said.

In a statement, police said firefighters responded at 3:25 p.m. for a person seen down in a parking lot. Despite life-saving measures, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities did not immediately release information on the circumstances that led to the death, the person’s identity or any connected suspect or associated vehicle. Fremont police homicide investigators were at the scene to gather evidence.

Fremont police and Tesla security guards blocked off a driveway entrance at Kato Road, a looping road around the factory and other businesses, and Contractor Road as the investigation took place.

More than a dozen police units were at the property’s southwest side, with crime scene technicians taping off a large area in a parking lot.

Police officers were seen setting up two canopies near a dark-green Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

A Fremont police spokesman did not immediately return calls requesting details of the incident.
