Local Pablo Picasso fans might have been feeling a little left out over the last year or so, as multiple immersive tours focused on Vincent van Gough and Claude Monet were scheduled for the Bay Area.

Well, get ready for Pablo’s turn, as organizers have announced that the immersive “Imagine Picasso” will have its U.S. premiere in San Francisco early next year.

The touring art experience, which immerses the viewer in the world of Picasso with the use of 200-plus of the artist’s works, debuts at Skylight at the Armory on Feb. 9.

Tickets start at $39.99 and are on sale now at www.imagine-picasso.com/san-francisco. The exhibit is currently scheduled to run through March 22.

“San Francisco’s rich diversity, creative energy and deep appreciation for the arts were a natural draw when considering where to stage our U.S. debut,” said Annabelle Mauger, creator of “Imagine Picasso.” “The Armory presents a unique opportunity, with its expansive space and unique history, to create something entirely new for all audiences — whether fine art aficionados or those meeting Picasso for the first time.”

The experience “was created to offer a new and modern perspective of Picasso’s unparalleled work” and “brings more than 200 Picasso works together in one place at one time, offering a unique look into the evolution of the prolific artist — from the Bleu and Rose periods to his masterpieces in the cubism and surrealism movements,” according to a news release.

Although the San Francisco stop is the first in the U.S., “Imagine Picasso” has already had successful runs in Lyon, France and Quebec and Vancouver, Canada. The tour will continue on in the U.S. after San Francisco — although the next stop has yet to be announced.
