SANTA CLARA – Authorities have identified a man who was killed Sunday night after being struck by at least two vehicles in Santa Clara.
Fifty-year-old Andrew John Behrndt was pronounced dead after the collision, Santa Clara officials said.
The Santa Clara Police Department said it responded to a report around 8:10 p.m. of a person in the northbound lanes of San Tomas Expressway, north of the Central Expressway overpass. Authorities said they received reports that the person had been hit by at least two vehicles.
Two drivers remained on the scene and told police they didn’t see the man until they struck him with their vehicles, according to authorities. Police said they don’t believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the collisions.
The roadway was shut down for around eight hours during the police investigation, authorities said.
