DANVILLE — Police said they are asking for the public’s help finding suspects who injured an employee and took his phone during the weekend robbery of a hardware store, authorities said.

In a statement Monday evening, police said officers responded at 3:48 p.m. to Ace Hardware, 3438 Camino Tassajara, for a report of an argument.

Officers arrived to learn that while three men entered the store and took about $1,100 worth of tools before trying to leave in a tan Chevrolet Trailblazer sport-utility vehicle.

But when an employee tried to get their vehicle’s license plate in a parking lot, one of the three men assaulted the employee before robbing him of his cell phone and driving away. The employee suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police said witnesses described two suspects as Asian men, about 30 years old, about 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10, weighing about 150 pounds and wearing Golden State Warriors jerseys, while the third suspect was described as a Latino man, about 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants.
