Running 20 years
Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley, a nonprofit that provides after-school fitness and enrichment programs to girls in grades 3-8, is looking for sponsors for its 20th year in action. In the Silicon Valley community alone, Girls on the Run has provided programming to 20,000 girls since 2002.
In 2022, the nonprofit will relaunch in-person events including the annual 5K in Vasona Park, which will take place in May. The 2022 season will run from March 14 to May 21. Registration for the program opens Dec. 18.

Safe school climate
Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District leaders have released more information about ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment for all students. In 2020, spurred by calls from students to increase efforts to combat sexual harassment and all forms of discrimination and mistreatment, the district made a public commitment to prioritize school climate.
Since then, district officials have updated administrative policies and its extracurricular code of conduct. The board of trustees has also funneled money into positions like an equity and Title IX coordinator and a director of school culture, climate and curriculum.
